Below is a list of current and sold pieces over the past year or so. With any mention of photographers who have graciously allowed me to use their photographs I have included their Instagram links to their pages in the description and at the bottom of this page. Please do click on them and give them some love – they work hard out in the wilds gathering eye candy for us!
After our move to Colorado, my focus has shifted from actively selling work to learning and exploring new quilting techniques. Each new piece has probably been inspired by methods new to me……it’s very freeing!
Clarence Truitt Hall
This is my girlfriendās dad who passed. I saw the photo of him and Sandie in church and I was taken by that smile and tilt of his head. I searched for the perfect fabrics which included African Ankara fabrics for his suit and the back of the quilt. This is done in Bisa Butlerās style as I really love the color!
The Ram
We see these rams from our back yard climbing the Colorado National Monument quite regularly. Just had to pay homage! Mixed media quilted with raw edge appliqued fabric and commercial marbled paper.
Big Horn 2
This piece was funā¦I wanted to try a ram using aboriginal fabrics and thread painting. I love using the marbled paper as background mountainsā¦.I glue it down and stitch right over it. I used metallic threads in places. The grass area has frayed threads and just for fun, I added pieces of a āgrassā like mat that I cut a few pieces from and sewed in. Raw edge appliquĆ©.
Owl 3
The last (so far) of the owl seriesā¦this one has lots of added goodnessā¦.there is Angelina fiber, hand painted silk, silk fusion for the snow, I used a āriceā bag that had disintegrated into shreds, and the plastic backing from peel and stick wallpaper. Cyanotype dyed Habotai silk. The owl is printed on silk. Raw edge appliquĆ©.
Owl 2
Continuing on the layered silk/organza/cyanotype themeā¦.(see below)ā¦.this time I experimented with adding some feathers.
Snowy owl
This piece started with playing with Cyanotype and various ways to alter it. I experimented with different silks and organzas in various weights. Using oak leaves from a friends yard I tried different exposures and additives. When this particular material was done, I put it in a bath with pH pool chemicals and watched it turn into a sepia look. I added a few more pieces of organza for the foggy effectā¦..
Wild Flowers
This piece was done for my nephews wedding. I foolishly thought it was finished when I got the idea to add the border! It’s the largest piece I’ve done (I believe) – and it took a minute. I had fun hiding all kinds of critters throughout the piece. It’s raw edge appliquĆ© and includes thread painted leaves and marbled paper.
After the Storm
I saw this quilting technique and wanted to give it a try. I really liked the feel the angles of the threads in the sky. It was technically tricky for me and took a lot of concentration to have the lines look consistent. As usual, it’s a raw edged applique and includes some marbled paper.
Colorado National Monument take 2
This is another version of the photo I took from the backyard and printed it on fabric. This time the subject is much more prominent rather than the technique I previously tried (see below). It was done for a friend. Raw edged applique and marbled paper.
More Flowers…..
This was a fun project. I have been seeing lace used in others projects and wanted to give it a try. Also liked using my fabric scrap pile for the background – win/win!
Spoonflower project
Spoonflower is a company that takes your photographs and prints them on the fabric of your choice. This was my first experience with that method. My friend, Jodi Lewis Baker took the photograph. I had it printed and then sewed it.
Flowers
This piece was fun. All fabric. Look closely for some surprises….
Colorado National Monument
This piece was inspired by the beauty in my ‘backyard’. We are approximately 1/4 mile from the Colorado National Monument and this is the view from the back of the house. It’s fabric with an original photograph in the center.
Landscape
This landscape is mostly a mixed media collage. Lots of hand printed paper from way back, some commercial marbled paper, fabric and cheesecloth. The ‘tree’ was thread painted on dissoluble backing.
Landscape
I enjoy creating landscapes….most of the time they are just made up – not from a photo – just playing with fabrics…Here is the piece before it was put on stretcher bars and mounted. I used some marbled paper in the background along with the fabrics.
SOLD – “Whiskers”
I just love how this one came out. Sometimes they just come easy and this one was a joy to work on. Finding the right fabrics is 90% of the battle. I opted not to sew on this piece. Whiskers measures 20×24″ and is mounted on a cradled panel and is framed with a sytrene facing instead of glass. The beautiful, perfect background is hand dyed fabric by Vicki Welsh.
SOLD -Lola
This baby elephant pattern by Sandra Mollon stole my heart! I got brave and actually did some sewing on this piece – free motion – but not a lot! Fabric is commercial and some hand painted. The piece measures 30×40″, and is framed with a styrene face instead of glass.
SOLD -Pure Power
I had intended to create this piece electronically using my computer and Cricut machine, but ended up doing it all by hand instead. Fabric is both commercial and hand painted. I did manage to actually sew on this piece, but I also opted to glue embroidery thread for a different effect. He is framed with a stryene face instead of glass and is 16×20″.
SOLD -Polar Sunset
This piece was a challenge, and changed completely at least twice! It’s all about the right fabric! I took an online class involving cheesecloth and that is what my bear is made with – Cheesecloth and white organza. Lots of great texture there. A good lesson in patience! This piece measures 24×36″ and is framed with a styrene face instead of glass.
SOLD -Fabulous Fiona
Fiona here was the result of a class I took teaching how to use the Cricut machine and Illustrator to cut fabric. The subject has to be broken down into values for each color and then after you define each value each fabric is loaded and cut by color. It has a different look than simply cutting random pieces of fabric. One of my favorite fabric designers – Kaffe Fassett – created the lotus background. Fiona is 20×24″ and is framed in black with a styrene facing instead of glass.
Still Waters…
I love to do the underwater fantasy thing! The background is another hand dyed piece by Vickie Welsh, and the rest of the denizens are a collage from various commercial fabrics. It measures 12×12″ and is framed with a styrene facing instead of glass.
“The One With the Fish and the Seaweed”
“The One With the Fish and the Seaweed” – Another fabric collage. 16×20″ with painted sides. Embroidery Thread for added fun!
SOLD -“Pisces Rising”
“Pisces Rising” – Dressed in her finest fabrics, Pisces heads off to schoolā¦. This would be a cute additions to your child’s room! Fabric collage and acrylic paint on a 8×8″, 1-1/2″ deep cradled panel, sides are painted blue with waves. Ready to hang.
SOLD DUCK!
This fun little piece was inspired by a pattern from Emily Taylor. I had so much fun with this one! I added the baby and then decided he must be fuzzy so I needle felted him. This piece is 16×20″ and is framed in black with a styrene facing instead of glass.
SOLD “Morning Has Broken”
“Morning Has Broken” features a beautiful Blue Heron among the morning mist. When I first started playing with fabric in March 2020, I purchased two fabric collage kits. The Heron was one of them. I had to modify things a bit as the kit was not meant to be adhered to a wood panel, and of course had a completely different background. I did some acrylic painting there and also added some embroidery thread for details. This piece is 24″x36″ and has painted sides, ready to hang.
SOLD “The Before Times”
“The Before Times” – a fantasy garden from beforeā¦. look closelyā¦there’s hope. Fabric collage and acrylic paint on a 16″x20″, 7/8″ cradled panel, sides are painted a sienna color. Ready to hang.
Pretty in Pink
A pretty little abstract-like rendition of wildflowers of the pink persuasion! 12×12″ on mixed media paper, acrylics – mounted on a 1 1/2″ cradled panels. The sides are painted yellow. Ready to hang.
The View From Here – 8×8
I don’t do many landscapes, but I wanted to try one with fabric. Very subdued tones here. Reminds me of Southern California shorelines. Of course I added torn hand painted/printed paper, and acrylics. It’s mounted on a wood cradled panel with finished sides.
Easter Flowers – 12×12ā
Inspired by what I consider Easter colors. A nice colorful small piece, some torn paper and acrylics. To be mounted on a wood cradled panel.
Love You Double 12×12″
Another one of my favorites! Acrylics and torn paper on heavy Acrylic paper. Mounted on a wood cradled panel – painted sides, ready to hang.
Falcon – 8×8″
This guy was done from another photographer I follow on IG – Scott Bourne. He has taken to altering his photographs with Photoshop lately with simply amazing results. Acrylics with torn papers I printed with my Gelli Plate.
Silent Watch 16×20″
This is one of my favorite pieces! I had never seen a Crossbill before I came across this photograph by Theodore. SUCH A COLORFUL BIRD! I was stricken and knew I had to paint this guy. Background gets painted and stenciled with molding paste first. Once I had the background done, diving into that beauty was next. I took the color cues from the background (or was it the other way around?). This one is hanging on my wall at home! Mixed media on cradled wood panel. Sides painted. Photograph by Wind.and.Wing, Theodore Emery.
Claire – 16×20″
This is part of my new experimentation of color phase and just LOVE this color combo. Kind of soothing and bright-in-your-face both at the same time, don’t you think? On watercolor paper and will be mounted on a wood cradled panel.
The Companion 16×16
16×16 mixed media on cradled panel, painted sides
Poppies – 8×8
I took a lot of classes last year (online and in-person) and this was from an on-line SkillShare class. I really liked the looseness of this style and will no doubt incorporate this in my future pieces. Acrylics, inks directly on a wood cradled panel.
Untitled (Floral in vase)- 8×8
One of the first pieces playing with fabric. I started with a VERY colorful fabric and started painting! It peeks through the background, but I left the sides original fabric-covered.
Wild Flowers 8×8″
Done in a crazy loose style. Ephemera background. I extended the ephemera to the edges but left them unpainted. Mixed media on cradled panel
The items below are SOLD!
SOLD Dreamers Welcome
“Dreamers Welcome” – a fantasy garden complete with a little black capped chickadee! Fabric collage and acrylic paint on a 14″x14″, 7/8″ cradled panel. Sides are painted a sienna color. Ready to hang.

SOLD “April Showers 12×12”
“April Showers”. Letting the flowers out of the vase this time! Reminds me of California’s magnificent wild flowers every Spring. A bit moody with a touch of hopeā¦. 12×12″ on acrylic paper mounted on a wood cradled panel. Acrylics, oil pastels and torn paper.
SOLD “Chachi Loves Joanie” 12×12″
A fabric collage that happened one rainy afternoon…with a slight touch of gold as you can tell in the second photo. This one is a personal favorite!
SOLD “Thinking of You” 12×12
A slightly different approach than my normal, but I really like the effect! 12×12″ on acrylic paper mounted on a wood cradled panel. Sides painted. Acrylics and torn paper.
SOLD Rainy Day Flowers x 16×20ā
This girl changed her mind several times before she found herself. It doesnāt always come easy! Acrylics and torn paper on watercolor paper. To be mounted on a wood cradled panel.
Sold Fabric Collage – 12×12″
This piece is a continuation of my new involvement with fabric – and florals! Fabric flowers are cut up and collaged together. The background changed SEVERAL times. The vase has a snippet of speciality paper I found in an art store – I’m a sucker for crazy papers! I plan to mount it to a wood cradled panel and paint the sides.
SOLD Rooster – 16×20
This piece is a major fabric investment of time! Many different fabric samples were cut up and collaged together. The fabric was adhered to a backing fabric which was then glued to an acrylic painted background. I then added some hand painted/printed paper made on Gelli Plates and torn into place. I plan to mount it to a wood cradled panel and paint the sides.
SOLD: Hummingbird – 16×20
Another riff on a hummingbird. A very involved molding paste background gives energy to the piece. I love playing with these textures – but the trick is to not overpower the subject. But with a very colorful bird it’s not a hard task! It’s mounted it to a wood cradled panel and painted on the sides.
SOLD Poppies- 12×12″
Back to one of my favorite floral subjects – poppies. I love the deep reds with the blue and yellow backgrounds. It’s painted on acrylic paper and I plan to mount it to a wood cradled panel.
SOLD The Valley- 16×20″
I usually don’t work with pastels, but this painting started out with acrylics and it needed some softness, I thought. I also added some oil pastels which have to be “fixed” so they don’t smear. It’s painted on watercolor paper and I plan to mount it on a wood cradled panel.
SOLD – Early Bird – 16×20″
So, I’ve been taking a lot of online courses during this Covid quarantine and one of them involved abstracts done with tile mastic. Welp, the abstract portion didn’t stick, but the mastic did – quite different from my usual molding paste. When I get home (snow-birding) I plan to consider this an underpainting and get my oils out to paint on top of the bird….stay tuned.
Kestrel 8×8″
One of the photographers I follow on Instagram is Theodore Emery (@Wind.and.Wing). (I put a link to his IG page on the right.). This Kestrel actually had his gory meal between his feet as he looked at Theodore with his camera. I left that bit out! All acrylic and molding paste with just a touch of wool under his beak. The ledge he is on is paper. Photograph by @Wind.and.Wing, Theodore Emery.
SOLD Winter Vibes 16×20

This stylized heron is constructed with fabric, hand painted/printed paper and acrylics with a fabric background. Mounted on a wood cradled panel. Finished sides.
SOLD: Floral Vase – 16×20
This mixed media piece went through MANY iterations. Then I saw a tutorial from my favorite paper painting collage artist (Elizabeth St. Hilaire) with a report on a gesso she found that was very thick, so of course I jumped right on THAT bandwagon. Torn hand painted/printed paper, ephemera, molding paste, acrylics and oil pastels on a wood cradled panel. Finished sides.
SOLD Heron (left facing) 16×20″
Another riff of one of my favorite birds – the Heron. Lots of texture on this one. This guy got the royal treatment with me throwing in all kinds of materials! Mixed media with acrylics, hand painted/printed paper, twine and molding paste. On cradled wood panel.Painted sides.

Blue Jay – 8×8
This is the third of a small series I did playing with ephemera as a background. I went to thrift stores looking for old postcards and whatever I could find. I like how the background piques your interest but isn’t the focal point of the piece. The strings you see I pulled from different fabrics and painstakingly glued down (not to mention my fingers.) Mixed media with ephemera, fabric, twine and acrylics on a wood cradled panel. Finished sides. Photograph by Thomas G Farrell.
SOLD Chickadee – 8×8
This the second of a small series I did playing with ephemera as a background. I went to thrift stores looking for old postcards and whatever I could find. Mixed media with ephemera, fabric, twine and acrylics on a wood cradled panel. Finished sides. Photograph by Thomas G Farrell.
SOLD – House Finch 8×8
This the first of a small series I did playing with ephemera as a background. I went to thrift stores looking for old postcards and whatever I could find. Mixed media with ephemera, fabric, twine and acrylics on a wood cradled panel. Finished sides. Photograph by Thomas G Farrell.
